In-House Volunteers
A regular group of volunteers is necessary for scheduled shifts of two to four hours twice a month, to provide service and support to families in need. Our volunteers are dedicated to caring for each family and they receive a wealth of smiles and gratitude in return.
Some of our opportunities include:
- “House Warmers” support families by:
- Staffing the front desk at the Houses or the Family Room inside The Children’s Mercy Hospital
- Helping with administrative and fundraising projects
- Maintaining, cleaning and keeping the Houses & Family Room organized and looking beautiful
- House “Handyman” help with light maintenance and repairs
- House "Activities Helpers" provide hands on activities for children and their families such as craft time, playing music, bingo nights, and sharing other talents.
Daytime House Warmers Needed
We have an immediate need for House Warmers at both Houses and the Family Room. Daytime positions are available:
- 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
- 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Tailor your schedule...volunteer twice a month for 2 to 4 hours each shift. Select the day that best fits your schedule, currently all days of the week are open.

House Activities Helpers Needed
Individuals and groups are needed to provide hands on activities for children and their families. If you are interested in getting involved with RMHC and have a special skill or talent you would like to share with our families, please contact Whitney McNeil at 816-842-8321 ext. 217.
