Eligibility and Admissions Process
The patient receiving medical treatment must be 18 years of age or younger. Priority is given to families living 35 miles or more outside of Kansas City. The 35-mile distance residency priority is intended to ensure the Kansas City Ronald McDonald House is available to those families traveling a considerable distance for their child’s medical care.
Families must be referred to stay at Ronald McDonald House by a Kansas City hospital social worker or designated nurse clinician. These hospital personnel will be urged to maintain contact with their families and have knowledge of the medical development of the child/children. They are also expected to work with Ronald McDonald House during each family’s stay should any problems arise in regard to rule infractions.
